Controller Area Network (CAN) bus is currently one of the most widely used industrial field buses due to its excellent network data transmission performance internationally. The CAN bus control network, as a kind of industrial field bus network with the purpose of message transmission, has high requirements for the information transmission reliability on the bus network system. It is important to study the message transmission reliability sensitivity on the bus network system. In this paper, a CAN bus message transmission model in an automotive power steering system was taken as the example to study the message transmission reliability sensitivity on the CAN bus network. Combining with the practical fourth-moment reliability sensitivity calculation method in engineering, the message transmission reliability sensitivity on the CAN bus network is intuitively obtained through programming simulation. The software simulation results are in line with qualitative analysis, indicating the correctness of the fourth-moment method in CAN bus message transmission reliability sensitivity analysis. The message transmission reliability sensitivity analysis using this fourth-moment method will provide a reasonable theoretical support for the further message transmission reliability research in industrial field bus network system.
