This chapter is dedicated to the description of autonomous maritime navigation. The first paragraph presents the current maritime context and its needs for technological innovation. It can be learned that autonomous ship navigation is one of the new concepts which has the potential to meet this challenge. As the sector of roads and UAVs, it is widely expected that maritime transport will become increasingly automated, and thus the autonomous naval technology is already being developed and demonstrated in many countries around the world.
