Requirements capture and Build phase is by far the most influential phase of the RCbS process. To complete it is necessary to understand the certification problem scope and determine the objectives in terms of desired outcomes and required accuracy. This Chapter reveals how this Phase 1 of the RCbS Process must be tackled and introduce the reader to the three material elements – the Flight Simulation Model, The Flight Simulator and The Flight Test Measurement System. Some crucial aspects of the proposed approach, like the definition of the domains, the influence and predictability levels and the credibility assessment through the confidence ratio. Building robust requirements, verified and validated early in the Process, will provide the strong foundation for the constructive work in Phase 2.
