Traffic incident detection continues to gather great interest in the domain of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSs). This is since speedy detection of traffic incidents offers enormous advantages in reducing congestion and traffic accidents. It can, in fact, save not only time and resources, but also human lives. In this context, and in this project, we proposed an incident detection and localization system based on the KNN classification method while making use one of the incident characteristics such as the change in the speed of vehicles. Our results are tested via simulation and show great performance in terms of incident detection.
