To address the longitudinal motion control of hypersonic vehicle with variable sweep, the approximate optimal control method on the basic of adaptive dynamic programming theory is studied in this paper. The longitudinal motion model of hypersonic variable sweep vehicle considering morphing effect is established with velocity subsystem and altitude subsystem. The control input of each subsystem is decomposed into steady-state control and feedback control. The steady-state control quantity is solved by inverse step method, and the optimal solution of feedback control is solved by ADP. The critic network’s parameters are updated by policy iteration. At the same time, its stability is proved. The simulation results indicate that the adaptive optimal control method performs excellently for hypersonic variable sweep vehicle longitudinal motion.
