In the context of ever-increasing requirements to the safety and efficiency of maritime transport operations, it becomes relevant to analyze the main challenges and threats faced by shipowners, operators and regulators. This article draws attention to the current problems of maritime transportation safety, examines their trends, potential risks and possible regulatory strategies. Particular attention is paid to problems related to navigation, technical condition of ships, crew training, and the impact of environmental factors on maritime transportation safety. The article analyzes the existing strategies and regulatory mechanisms aimed at ensuring the safety of maritime transportation and emphasizes that safety management systems are an important tool for ensuring compliance with international maritime transportation standards and requirements. The analysis of safety problems and proposed possible settlement strategies will help to develop effective measures to reduce risks and ensure the safety of maritime transportation.
