The proposed Chengdu-Lanzhou railway is located in terrain gradient sharply changing belt with highly complicated and dangerous geological conditions, and it crosses the core of severely afflicted areas of 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake. Many factors such as existed complicated geological conditions and earthquake secondary disasters, sensitive points of environmental protection control the route schemes, among which, geological conditions is the key point. Based on the route selection principal and practical countermeasures in relation to main controlling factors, This paper mainly works on the railway location in complicated and dangerous mountainous areas, and this could be used for reference for linear structures such as railway, road, irrigation works and oil-gas pipeline in similar condition of areas.
