Skid landing gear is a specialized landing device that satisfies design requirements such as compact space and light weight. However, current research on the dynamic characteristics of skid-equipped aircraft during the landing phase is limited, making the feasibility and optimization direction of skid landing gear unclear. To address this gap, a general aircraft landing and rollout dynamics model based on modular concept is first constructed, considering the coupled effects of aerodynamic loads, buffer loads, and ground loads. On this basis, the motion characteristic differences between skid-equipped and wheeled aircraft during the landing and rollout phase are compared in detail. Simulation results show that the lack of cushioning capability provided by rubber tires results in a 10.57% increase in overload of skid-equipped aircraft and a 17.1% decrease in the efficiency of the main landing gear buffer. Due to the differences in the characteristics of lateral forces on the nose and main landing gear, skid-equipped aircraft during the rollout phase is a statically unstable system. The intervention of asymmetric disturbances would pose a serious threat to rollout safety. The relevant conclusions provide a clear direction for optimizing the design of skid landing gear and help enhance its feasibility for the application in special aircrafts.
