Signalized intersections play a significant role in better operational performance of the traffic flow system in the urban roadway network. The present study explored queued vehicles to estimates the passenger car unit of vehicle types at approaches of a signalized intersection. The passenger car unit was estimated with a developed model based on queue length with different vehicle compositions. Field data was collected from approaches of signalized intersections at various locations in Warangal City, India. Furthermore, the results of developed model PCU values compared with the outcomes of other popular methods. The developed model PCU values were used for calculating the saturation flow rate accurately at approaches of signalized intersections to compare with other popular methods. The model proposed in the present study was validated using statistical evidence which confirms the successful validation of the model under mixed traffic conditions. Different techniques were used to convert mixed traffic into uniform conditions hence, the developed model PCU values give better accuracy compared to other outcomes estimated from popular methods in the present study.
