Abstract The conceptual framework, as proposed hereinafter, follows the identified role of logistic interactions in a national freight transport market. The result is a disaggregate microscopic modelling concept that focusses on specific decision makers – an encompassing set of individual firms. Therefore, a framework is designed to cope with the major hindrance of detailed national freight transport models: the absence of specific information on individual firms’ logistic interactions.
