Oil cargoes account for a significant share of the railways’ transportation structure. The tank-car fleet is owned by commercial entities of various forms of ownership. Small transport companies merge into larger ones to increase the efficiency of wagon use through joint operation, which reduces the mileage between loading and unloading points and costs, because wagon owners pay the infrastructure owner, according to the current Transport Rules and Tariff Guidelines, for both loaded and empty mileage. Literature sources are analysed, where the questions of improving the system of organisation and technology of cargo transportations and building efficient logistic chains of delivery are considered. The transport and technological schemes of oil cargo delivery by railway on the example of a transport company are considered. Pricing and tariffing issues of these transportations have been considered; economic efficiency parameters have been determined. A triangular scheme of laden and empty wagons movement is offered, which allows to decrease rent payments for usage of tank-wagons, to reduce empty run of wagons, what is actual in conditions of insufficient carrying capacity of railway communications. Advantages and disadvantages of the scheme application are evaluated. Analytical methods, methods technical and economical comparison between variants and statistical modelling are used.
