Comprehensive and lucid interaction is of utmost importance when driving Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) in pedestrian zones. It facilitates pedestrian safety by conveying the vehicle’s intentions and engaging them for priority. The focus of this work is to analyze the effects of various exterior car displays on pedestrian behavior. The analysis is conducted on an autonomous bus used as an intra-university transport system, equipped with LED displays. The experiments are performed in two phases: first, highly rated interaction content is chosen based on questionnaires from the participants. Secondly, the interaction contents from phase 1 are shown in sequence. The results provide insight into pedestrian understanding based on the type and attributes of signals with various combinations.
