The CO2CO2 emissions of a transport service are being continually reduced by the efforts to reduce the fuel consumption of vehicles (To put it more precisely: the CO2 emissions per kilometer and per ton-kilometer are reduced. Due to the disproportionately increasing total transport services, the total CO2 emissions of the transport sector are steadily increasing.). Alternative fuels make it possible to reduce the CO2 emissions per liter of consumed fuel. Furthermore, they make it possible to reduce the dependence of the transport sector on mineral oil.
