Since its invention in 2003, rock-filled concrete technology has been among the nation’s fastest-growing dam construction technologies. Rock-filled concrete dams have been implemented with the innovation, cooperation, perseverance, and hard work of practitioners in the engineering community nationwide. Over the past 20 years, a significant number of physical tests, field tests and numerical investigations have been conducted to understand the fundamental mechanisms and the way they influence basic properties of the rock-filled concrete, making the RFC technological innovation achieve a breakthrough from conception to extensive engineering practice.
