We suggest new methods of solving boundary value problems for some classical equations of the laminar boundary layer theory, namely, an heuristic method of reducing a nonlinear boundary value problem for the Falkner–Skan equation to a linear Cauchy problem and a group-theoretic approach to integrating the Blasius equation describing the motion of an incompressible flow near a semi-infinite plate.
