Abstract In 1997, British Aerospace plc. had global sales of 25.6 billion DM (£ 8.6 billion). With its 47,900 employees, it is the fourth largest manufacturer of aerospace and defense systems in the world. In November 1999, British Aerospace merged with Marconi Electronic Systems to form BAE SYSTEMS with sales £ 12 billion and an order book of £ 36 billion. With 100,000 people in nine home markets (UK, USA, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, Saudi-Arabia, Sweden) across the globe, BAE SYSTEMS is the world’s second largest defense company.
