Numerous definitions of benchmarking have been developed. Benchmarking is defined as “a process by which something is measured in relation to best practice”. For Main 98“benchmarking is the art of finding out, in a perfectly legal and above board way, how others do something better than you do - so that you can imitate - and improve upon - their techniques”.
