This paper bestows a topology of inverter called as multi-source inverter (MSI) which is used to connect multiple batteries to a single source. A novel approach has been discussed where this inverter topology is used to charge batteries in electric vehicles (EV) through stator windings of the electrical machine. The same set of batteries can be used as a source to drive electrical machine through this inverter. A detailed analysis on simulated performance using MATLAB/Simulink is presented during charging and discharging with variable load conditions of electric vehicle to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed concepts.
