The issues of vertical loads redistribution on the drive wheels of machines with an equalizer suspension from the front to the rear axle when moving with a traction load are considered. Methods to eliminate the effect of redistribution of vertical loads on the drive wheels of the equalizer with eccentricity are given. This is achieved by changing the lever ratio from the axles of the wheels to the axis of the equalizer suspension and creating the required value of the torque in the equalizer suspension hinge. An analytical solution of the problem of balancing the reactive moment arising from the action of the machine traction force applied in the hinge of the equalizer suspension with eccentricity by the torque acting in the same hinge is given. As a result of the studies it was found that in order to ensure complete balancing of the tandem axle having an equalizer with an eccentricity in all modes of its operation, it is necessary to install a transmission mechanism in it. The transmission mechanism provides a change in the torque value in the equalizer’s hinge according to a predetermined nonlinear law depending on the values the traction force of the machine and the coefficient of rolling resistance. The recommendation for machines operating with high traction forces is substantiated. Their tandem drive axles with equalizers should be manufactured without eccentricity and with the value of the gear ratio of the mechanical gears of the equalizer equal to one divided by the value of efficiency, with drive wheels of increased radius. This design ensures their balancing when working on any traction modes and supporting surfaces, and also makes it possible to compensate for the decrease in clearance due to the lack of eccentricity.
