The integration of a massive number of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) into infrastructure systems accelerates the complex interactions between the distribution network and the road network and brings the direct challenges to the coupled traffic and energy transportation networks, which have stunted the further development of PEVs. To solve this problem, the dynamical PEVs behaviors, including PEV travel behaviors and charging behaviors, need to be better understood. This paper mainly proposed a charging strategy for modeling PEV travel behaviors and charging behaviors. The charging strategy with objective functions considering minimization of the travel route distance on the road network, the voltage fluctuation on the distribution network, and the number of failure PEVs, respectively, was developed to explore the correlation between the PEV behaviors and state of charge (SoC) range on the coupled networks. Furthermore, the variation coefficient method was used to calculate the weights of indexes in the objective functions to optimize the threshold of SoC. Besides, the improved IEEE-33 bus system with the geographic information was taken as an example to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
