The carbon emission in the whole world due to Conventional Vehicles (CVs) paved the way for different alternative vehicles. Electric Vehicles (EVs), Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs), and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) are alternatives to these CVs. HEVs use both internal combustion engines and electric motors for power supply which means that they can work both as a CV and EV. HEVs are a good substitute for CVs for those countries that lack proper infrastructure and are economically weak to adopt EVs and FCEVs. Thus, this research article checks the adaptability of HEVs by presenting a brief comparison of all these vehicles with HEV in terms of power statistics of each component, efficiency, and carbon emission of each vehicle using the Advance Vehicle Simulator (ADVISOR) tool which works on the MATLAB platform. The overall efficiency of CV, EV, FCEV, and HEV was found to be 9.3%, 34.2%, 22%, and 10.3%. Although the performance of EVs was found better than CVs, their infrastructure is a big challenge for poor countries and FCEVs are still in the development phase; therefore, HEVs are the best option for developing countries as compared to CVs because they are controllable, efficient, and can coordinate with future technologies.
