Abstract Eigenvalues and modes of vibrations for a thin shell weakened by a hole are studied taking into account a new approach to constructing a dynamic finite-dimensional model. It is shown that at a relatively small notch, the inherent characteristics of the shell with a hole can be found by solving the problem on vibrations of the shell with an added mass that is equal to the mass of the cut element.
