Abstract Although architecture frameworks have not been standardized in the automotive industry, different types of architecture viewpoints and views have been introduced recently as part of automotive architecture frameworks. In this chapter, we first present a literature review which has been carried out to discover the existing architecture frameworks and architecture description languages for the automotive industry as well as their benefits and gaps. We propose an architecture framework for automotive systems (AFAS) based on the extracted viewpoints from existing automotive architecture description mechanisms.
