As will be evident again and again in this book, AoA has a direct influence on the actuator nonlinearities. Figure 2.1 shows an airfoil at two different angles; the yellow colored airfoil represents a situation under low AoA, and the red color one indicates a situation under high AoA. The characteristics of the SJA under these situations is different because the ambient flow separates from the surface closer to the leading edge as the AoA increases. As a result the affect of SJAs on the ambient flow is different in the two cases. The resultant lift and drag forces are also distinct.
