Trim is one of the basic requirements of a safe flight. Both stability and control are directly related and are impacted by trim. The terms trim, balance, and equilibrium are used interchangeably in the literature. Trim is defined as the aircraft condition, where sum of all forces along each axis (x, y, and z), and sum of all moments about each axis are zero. Trim is the equilibrium/balance of forces and moments in a flight operation. An aircraft is said to be trimmed, if the forces and moments acting on the aircraft are in equilibrium. When an aircraft is in trim/equilibrium, in the absence of any disturbance or input, the flight parameters stay in the same state.
