Abstract In this paper the MUSMAR approach to multivariable adaptive regulation is revisited in view of proving two of its basic properties which were not dealt with in its early presentation. More specifically, it is shown that, under some conditions, MUSMAR feedback-gain matrix adaptation algorithm is the same as Kleinman's iterations for the associated LQ regulation problem. Further, a consistency proof is given for the identification problem of MUSMAR multistep predictive model.
