Abstract In this chapter, an example of determination of the principal dimensions of a design ship is described. Design ship as a target is a deadweight 320,000 ton VLCC with the parent ship of a deadweight 301,000 ton VLCC. The principal dimensions of design ship are determined considering the estimation of lightweight, the prediction of resistance and power, the selection of main engine, the design of propeller, the estimation of capacity of cargo hold, and the calculation of freeboard. The overall procedure follows that for deadweight carrier.
