The space net is promising in active removal of space debris. In present paper, the dynamic process between a square space net and spherical target is modeled and analysed which is vital for space net capturing space debris. The hertzian model is adopted to explore the impact dynamics, and the geometry variation, energy variation, impact force and typical tether force of space net are discussed during impact process. It is found that the impact process can make the space net well wrap the target, and the impact response experiences an obvious variation at the impact moment. Moreover, the typical tether force from simulation results indicate that the diagonal tether bears more load during impact process.
