For the powertrain simulation, a new simulation environment in MATLAB is developed. The simulation environment contains models for the different powertrain components, the vehicle models, as well as a testing environment for the different drive cycles. For calculating the optimized energy consumption, the general approach is to use a backward simulation with a dynamic programming algorithm.
