Ultraviolet (UV) curing based 3D printing technologies have caught great attention by the designers of soft robots because of their advantages in combing printing accuracy and geometric complexity. To improve the design freedom and functionality of soft robots, the choice of suitable resins for 3D printing is of great importance. Here, we systematically summarized our recent developed photocurable soft materials (including hydrogels, elastomers, and shape memory polymers) that are suitable for 3D printing of soft robots. The functions and properties of these soft materials are discussed, of which the modulus varies from KPa to GPa, guaranteeing the controlled mechanical performance of formed robots. Besides, the large stretchability of these materials endows the fabricated robots with high deformation ability. Moreover, some other functionalities, such as self-healing, shape memory, recycling, provide promising ways for the design of intelligent soft robots.
