Vision system is one of the most important components of apple picking robot, which determines the quality and speed of apple picking robot to complete the picking task. To clarify the challenges and the future research directions of the vision system of apple picking robot, this chapter first summarizes the types of vision sensors commonly used in the apple picking robot, and then summarizes the apple target recognition and positioning methods in the vision system of the apple picking robot. The problems existing in the vision system of apple picking robot are further analyzed. It is pointed out that the optimization of the vision system structure, the optimization of the intelligent algorithm in the vision system, the improvement of the real-time performance of the vision system and the improvement of the cost performance of the vision system will become the key research directions in the future, which will provide a reference for further research on the vision system of apple picking robot.
