Retrofitting involves the conversion or addition of one source of power to another. In today’s rapidly developing world, there is a greater demand for eco-friendly sources of transportation, namely battery-powered electric vehicles. The purpose of this paper is to elaborate the process of retrofitting a motor vehicle to a fully electric one, while highlighting the various obstacles and parameters that crop-up during such a conversion, and further inspiring consumers to retrofit their existing vehicles instead of purchasing new ones. Electric vehicles have innumerable benefits over their fuel-powered counterparts, which is what appeals to the masses and is the cause for the recent upsurge in EV sales. This paper also enumerates the benefits and downsides of owning an EV, the factors that affect its performance and maintenance, and potential ideas for the widespread adoption of EVs.
