Magnetic conditioning has a significant effect on performance and emission characteristics of compression ignition engines. In the present work, B20 (20% of Mamey Sapote biodiesel + 80% of diesel) was conditioned with 10,000 and 12,000 Gauss intensity Neodymium N52 permanent magnets by placing on the fuel lines in between the fuel pump and fuel injector. Due to the magnetic conditioning, the complete combustion and rapid burning of the hydrocarbon fuel can be achieved. The experiments were conducted at different magnetic intensities to find the performance and emissions with base line engine and B20 with and without magnetic conditioning. From the experimental results, it is understood that magnetic conditioned B20 fuel with 12,000 Gauss has improved performance when compared to baseline engine.
