Abstract The real-time applicability of a model predictive controller is closely correlated to the simplicity of the control-oriented model. Simple models are not as precise at capturing the principal dynamics of the main plant. As such, it is preferred that simple model parameters are projected in a manner that attains all dynamics of the plant. Nevertheless, locating the parameters required in the control-oriented model to cover all of the operating points of the plant may not be feasible.
