With escalation in globalization, the trend of smart SCs increases. IoT and ICT provide a significant role regarding this aspect. Many technologies (WSN, RFID, and Middleware) and infrastructure (AL, SOA, and EDA) can be implemented to build smart cities. The major problem regarding smart cities is to maintain, coordinate, accurate, and manipulate the devices that are used to create a connection between smart homes in smart cities. In this paper, all these problems of implementation and maintenance of smart cities are discussed in detail. Authors provide a review of infrastructure, applications, and technologies that are commonly used for the development of SCs regarding IoT. After reviewing all papers in detail, we can say there is significant space available to enhance the performances of IoT-based smart cities and we can connect all IoT-based devices to read the instruction of each other and whenever particular sites of devices get down another sector should be able to connect with the down site and present the solution to improve its maintenance by this way. We can make a map of devices and do load management of networks in smart cities to control the security risk and performance.
