Abstract The mathematical representation of the metal laser cutting process is proposed based on reduction of the boundary layer equations with border-line conditions on the external and internal melt surfaces with solid material and a gas jet. The results of numeral computations are compared with the experimental results using the laser cutting velocity and material thickness received on fiber-optic and CO2 lasers.
