The small ducted type aircraft adopts the control rudder surface as the main flight attitude control surface of the aircraft. In order to produce enough control torque in the limited space, the control rudder surface needs to be completely located in the under wash flow of the culvert fan. Therefore, the control rudder is generally installed in the culvert ring, located below the fan. The rudder deflection produces a control torque to tilt the aircraft, and the high-speed level flight of the aircraft is realized by the forward component of engine thrust/pull force. This control method is deficient caused by the flow characteristics of the culvert around the stream. Therefore, the active flow control scheme based on synthetic jet is used to control the position of air separation artificially to help the control rudder surface to produce enough and stable control torque. The steady jet and synthetic jet are analyzed and verified by CFD simulation method, and a lot of data are obtained. This paper provides a new idea for the development of small ducted aircraft control system in the future.
