The high-pressure stage of the common-rail system is divided into three sections: pressure generation, pressure storage, and fuel metering. The high-pressure pump assumes the function of pressure generation. Pressure storage takes place in the fuel rail to which the rail-pressure sensor and the pressure- control and pressure-relief valves are fitted. The function of the injectors is correct timing and metering the quantity of fuel injected. High-pressure
