Signalized intersection is the important nodal point of the urban roadway system. The correct estimation of signal cycle timing requires the exact quantification of Saturation Flow. For the analysis, traffic data have been collected with the help of videography technique at signalized intersections of Ahmedabad, India. Traffic flow discharge of different vehicular categories has been extracted from the video during the saturated green time. Analysis of composition of vehicles of different categories, arrival rate and percentage right turn has been done with respect to discharge rate in terms of passenger car per unit. The quality data has been used to develop various graphs showing the variations in saturated flow with respect to the selected class of the vehicles. In order to find the saturated green time, ANOVA test has been used. The graphs of various proportions with respect to field Saturation Flow showed the effect of the type of vehicle on the Saturation Flow. Two-wheelers always have a negative effect on the Saturation Flow. The regression analysis has been used to generate the models for base Saturation Flow. The model of Saturation Flow has developed by considering the proportion of 2W, 3W, CS, CB, LCV, BUS, HCV, Right Turning Vehicles and width (in m) as the independent variables. The analysis showed that the major factors affecting the Saturation Flow at the selected intersections are the right turning movement and heavy vehicles. The developed model has been validated on other intersections and the value predicted from the model is similar to the field value. The Modification Factor has been developed for INDO HCM for width greater than 10.5 m. The developed modification factor has been validated and the value predicted from the model are similar to the field value.
