The choice of strengthening options for reinforced concrete structures is based on a large number of factors taking into consideration technical capabilities and economic efficiency. Modern construction requires new methods of reinforcement which reduce labor costs and time expenditure, while maintaining the aesthetic appearance of the building being constructed or restored. The stumbling point is the cost and the reliability of the new reinforcement methods. To this end, the best known reinforcement methods based on materials such as reinforced concrete and metal have been compared with fairly new methods based on composite materials. In making the technical and economic comparison, only the cost of the materials required for the reinforcement was taken into account. The cost of the work, the delivery of the materials, the cost of renting or purchasing the necessary equipment, etc. is beyond the scope of this research due to the huge number of factors that make it difficult to set final value. The materials of the study are the results of calculations of the materials volume for the production of a reinforced concrete centrally-compressed column with the most common characteristics.
