This paper analyzes the structure and working principle of unilateral linear induction motor in order to study the dynamic characteristics and electromagnetic thrust. Then, the electromagnetic model has been established. It has been deduced that the end effect of unilateral linear induction motor air gap magnetic density, electromagnetic thrust related analytical calculation expression. The FEM model has been created to get unilateral linear induction motor specific time air gap magnetic density distribution map and electromagnetic thrust, by using the transient solver. Large thrust has to been provided to unilateral linear induction motor for maglev train by adopting composite secondary. This paper adopts the method of parameterization of the thickness of the secondary plate to improve the efficiency of the motor and maximum thrust. The electromagnetic thrust curve has been got by using ANSYS optimization module. Meanwhile, optimized the structure and performance of the motor have been achieved by optimizing the secondary pole thickness curve.
