Experimentation continues to grow across industry, especially for multi-domain operations (MDO). Experimentation ranges for UAS have limited infrastructure, and there is a need to add networks and data support. Adding telemetry for experimentation assets brings data to users quickly and supports robust testing campaigns. Experimentation is very prominent in the UAS field due to the low cost and easy access of UAS components; however, quality data is essential. TSPI (time-space-position information) telemetry is desired, but not always readily available. The Torch/Crossflow team conducted an IRAD (Independent Research and Development) project to develop a self-contained open architecture pod using inexpensive COTS hardware that can be attached to virtually any UAS. This pod contains power, telemetry, and communication, to run on any vehicle without imposing any requirements on vendors. A pod can be used per vehicle in an experiment. A ground station receives the telemetry in real time. The TSPI data can be reused in a Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) environment.
