This paper uses meso-level panel data from Beijing from 2009 to 2021 to establish a fixed effects model to study the impact and mechanism of rail transit density on the job-housing relationship. The results show that an increase in rail transit station density exacerbates job-housing separation, particularly in the central urban and outer suburban areas, while the impact is not significant in the nearby suburbs. Mechanism testing further reveals that rail transit density promotes the increase of housing prices, raising the residential threshold, which in turn intensifies job-housing separation.
