As the two main modes of transportation, highway transportation and rail transportation have their own unique advantages and challenges.By using the advanced technology and mode of rail transit for reference,A new generation of track-level traffic control system is proposed, which is suitable for expressways and can comprehensively improve the all-weather safe traffic capacity.— Highway information track. In This paper, the differences in organization, operation and control between road traffic system and rail traffic system are compared and studied. The definition, composition and working process of highway information track are analyzed and clarified.Furthermore, aiming at the inaccuracy and unreliability of the current expressway traffic perception system under bad weather conditions,As well as the problem that the travel service is difficult to meet the needs of travelers, the applicability of highway information track under bad weather conditions is analyzed.Through this study, we expect to provide new theoretical support and practical guidance for the safe and efficient operation of expressways
