Understanding the widespread issue of traffic accidents globally, it's clear that risky driving habits by motorists are a major cause of these incidents. This study aims to extend the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to explore the direct and indirect effects of different driver behaviors on the likelihood of engaging in risky driving. Data from 406 drivers about their intentions to drive dangerously were collected via an online survey. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to test the theoretical model. The results show that while perceived behavioral control and safety attitude directly increase the intention to drive dangerously, subjective norms and driving self-efficacy have both direct and indirect positive effects on these intentions. These intentions could lead to hazardous driving behaviors. The study provides important insights and practical applications for understanding and tackling dangerous driving behavior in certain situations, which is essential for reducing traffic accidents and promoting sustainable development.
