The integration of digital cities and intelligent urban transportation has emerged as a key approach to enhancing urban management efficiency and service quality. This paper begins by outlining the definitions and characteristics of digital cities, along with the concepts and essential elements of intelligent urban transportation. It then examines the remarkable outcomes of smart transportation systems in alleviating traffic congestion, improving transportation efficiency, and ensuring safety, as demonstrated through case studies of Singapore and China’s Xiong’an New Area. Furthermore, the paper explores the technical, economic, and sociocultural challenges encountered during the integration process and proposes targeted solutions to address these issues.
