Current advances in technology and the sophistication of the modern battlefield have encouraged researchers to explore the concept of autonomy as the next step in vehicle technology. As a result of this, a number of autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicle systems are being developed for land, sea, and airborne applications. This paper describes a sampling of the most prominent of these systems to provide an overview of how this technology is evolving.
