With the increasing depletion of fossil fuels, the country is in an energy crisis. Moreover, the huge environmental pollution caused by traditional fuel vehicles has promoted the rapid development of electric vehicles (EVs). To solve the problems of mileage anxiety and charging difficulty for EV users on highway networks, this paper proposes a charging station placement method based on highway networks. In this paper, the research is analyzed in two main steps. Firstly, the Monte Carlo method is combined to generate a generation of electric vehicle paths, departure times, and initial power levels in the region, followed by a combination of power consumption models and user charging decision predictions to obtain the charging demand for each service area. In the second step, based on the determination of the charging demand and each parameter related, an optimization model to minimize the construction cost was established with indicators check of queuing theory, taking into account the interests of the government, the grid sector, the operator, and the EV users. Finally, the paper introduces a case study of the road network in Qujing, Yunnan Province, China, and conducts a sensitivity analysis.
