Noise has long been established as having a major influence on the overall passenger environment. Unfortunately, the processes involved are often misunderstood and consequently the acoustic environment inside many vehicles is more a result of chance than any design process. By considering the user of the vehicles this paper shows how appropriate noise control measures can be devised so that the maximum improvement in the passenger noise environment is achieved for minimum cost.
