A combination of mathematical models have been used to predict evaporative and exhaust emissions from gasoline fueled vehicles in Canada for the year 2000. Reported are metric tonnes per year non-methane organic gases, carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen emissions for the Windsor-Quebec corridor, and the Lower Fraser Valley. The approach is based on the application of Auto/Oil Air Quality Improvement Research Program regression equations to output from EVAP4.1C, an Environment Canada adaptation of the EPA's MOBILE4.1Comparisons to calculations made for 1990 emphasize the importance of automotive emissions technology, and inspection/maintenance programs (I&M) in the reduction of mobile source emissions. The effect of changes to gasoline refueling control and composition are also discussed.
